Bio:

 

Uruguayan photographer, graduated from the Image and Multimedia Technology Center of Politechnic University of Cataluña - BarcelonaTech. He is currently working as artistic director of SAN JOSÉ FOTO festival, promoting the Photobook Club Montevideo and as editor of El Ministerio Ediciones publishing house. He has been selected in festivals as Noorderlicht photofestival (NL), Athens photofestival (GR), Les Rencontres de Arles and Paris Photo (FR), FORMAT and Brighton Photo Fringe (UK), PhotoIreland (IR), Verzasca Foto (CH), Aleppo photofestival (SR), Backlight photofestival (FIN), Festival Internazionale di Roma (IT), Tbilisi Photo Festival (GEO), FIF Bello Horizonte and Valongo (BR), MUFF and San José Foto (UY), Indian Photo Festival (IN), Getxophoto (SP), FELIFA (AR), Addis Foto Fest (ET), Fotofest Bolivia (BO), Photo Israel (IS), Kaunas Photo (LI), Kuala Lumpur Photo Prize (MA) and Encontros da Imagem (PT). He has been included in  exhibitions at Aperture Foundation (New York), Fundación Atchugarry (Punta del Este), FOLA  (Buenos Aires), Contemporary Art Space (Montevideo), MACRO Museum (Rome) and GNration (Braga). His works and publications are in various private and public collections such as the FOLA Latin American Photo Library in Buenos Aires, Tate Modern in London, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Museu da Fotografia in Fortaleza and the Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum. He has received several awards, grants and scholarships, recently honoured with the Latin American Photobook award by CDF of Montevideo 2014,  the IILA Fotografía award in Rome 2016, FELIFA International photobook award 2018,  the Cosmos Arles PDF Award and the Discovery Award at Encontros da Imagem Portugal 2019. Nominee for Prix PICTET , the Paris Photo–Aperture Photobook Award in 2019 and the Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography 2020.

Actualmente trabaja como director artístico del festival internacional SAN JOSÉ FOTO, coordinando el Photobook Club Montevideo y como editor en El Ministerio Ediciones. Ha participado en festivales como Noorderlicht photofestival (HO), Athens photofestival (GR), Les Rencontres de Arles y Paris Photo (FR), Aleppo photofestival (SR), FORMAT photofestival y Brighton Photo Fringe (GB), Backlight photofestival y Helsinki Photofestival(FIN), Festival Internazionale di Roma (IT), FIF Bello Horizonte y Valongo (BR), MUFF and San José Foto (UY), Indian Photo Festival (IN), Getxophoto (ES) , FELIFA (AR), Addis Foto Fest (ET), Verzasca Foto (SUI), PhotoIreland (IR), Tbilisi Photo Festival (GEO), Fotofest Bolivia (BO), Photo Israel (IS), Kuala Lumpur Photo Prize (MA), Kaunas Photo (LI) and Encontros da Imagem (PT). También ha realizado exposiciones en la Aperture Foundation (Nueva York), Fundación Atchugarry (Punta del Este), FOLA (Buenos Aires), Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (Montevideo), Metropolitan State University (Minneapolis), el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo MACRO (Roma) y GNration (Braga). Sus obras y publicaciones se encuentran en diversas colecciones privadas como en Fototeca Latinoamericana en Buenos Aires, Tate Modern en Londres,  Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum, el  Museo de Fine Arts en Houston  y Museu da Fotografia en Fortaleza. Ha recibido varias distinciones, fondos y becas, últimamente recibió el premio IILA Fotografía Roma 2016, el premio internacional al mejor fotolibro FELIFA Buenos Aires 2018, el premio Cosmos Arles PDF y el Discovery Award en Encontros da Imagem Portugal 2019. Nominado al Prix PICTET, el Paris Photo–Aperture Photobook Award en 2019 y el Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography en 2020.
